Introduction

After a quick start to today's puzzle from Cox & Rathvon, I found progress slowed markedly and any advancement required a fair degree of mental effort.

While I am no stranger to the tiny New Brunswick hamlet, having passed by it numerous times on annual treks to the Maritimes over the course of many years, I expect it will be a mystery to many.

I invite you to leave a comment to let us know how you fared with the puzzle.

  1. Good Saturday morning to all! Today's offering from C&R is an easy entry to a lazy day. We get to visit NB and Scotland with some childhood friends.
Not to mention searches for iron and gold along the way.
Well. I think I'll branch out and try my life outside of isolation for a little while.
    Thanks for posting, Falcon!
    Best of luck to all.

  2. Had to look up the NB village. North kept popping up in my mind. and it did not work with 1d. When I began the puzzle, I was looking for complex answers but most turned out to be anagrams or other simple solutions. Wasn't sure is Mandrills was correct but it was the only word that worked. It was a challenge and fun. Had to garden in between to let my brain do some work.

  3. Hello Falcon and fellow puzzlers,

I did not find the puzzle as easy as Henry did but certainly enjoyed it as always. I was able to decipher the name of the village even though I had never heard of it. Had trouble with the baboons and needed my friend google. Favourites were 1d and 8d, very clever wording.

Thank you for posting Falcon. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

    Cheers,
    MG

  4. My 4th cryptic in 24 hours and it did not disappoint --- splendid surfaces especially for RESIDENTS and SLOGANEERING. Cleverness everywhere particularly with NOMAD and PLUMBED. Thanks HEX for the fun and Falcon for parsing.
