Saturday, June 16, 2012 - Across and Down

Introduction

The theme of today's puzzle from Cox and Rathvon is most appropriate for a crossword puzzle.

I hadn't noticed that the solution published last week for the June 2 puzzle was incorrect. However, even with the corrected solution, the answer to 26a is still SHRUB!

  1. Hi Falcon!
Thanks for posting the puzzle and solution as always. Although I agree with your answer to 17d, I need some help as I don't see anything cryptic about the clue. Where is the "double" meaning? Did the setters miss something or did I?
    Cheers,
    MG

  2. Hi MG,

17d was the last one in for me. The definition is "cake" (in the sense of mud caking on one's boots). The rest of the clue forms the wordplay which I have explained in the review.

  5. One way is to click on the link to the puzzle found in the introduction. In today's review, the link is "today's puzzle from Cox and Rathvon". This will take you to a .PDF version of the puzzle that you can print by clicking the printer icon near the top left corner of the page. An alternative is to click on the image of the puzzle which will open a .JPG version of the puzzle that you can print.
