A fitting puzzle for back to school week.
ReplyDeleteMostly completed easily, but it took me a little time to figure out 2D, and I am not sure I have the correct answer for 11A.
Hi everyone! A great weekend to start the school year. Thanks for the post, Falcon.
ReplyDeleteEasy puzzle this week, went through all but the lower right quadrant without stopping. Not sure about 19d. I had an 'O' in there except that didn't work with hotspots, so it is now an 'E' - I checked Google but it doesn't support my answer fully (pun intended).
For 11a think of digits on limbs other than fingers. That should do it.
Henry
Good morning,
ReplyDeleteAcademic offering today me thought.
Re 11a: the indefinite number is 'n'. I'm not convinced the answer can be "styles of writing".
Re 19d: I, like Henry, first had 'o' in the answer. Didn't fit with the obvious answer to 24a. And couldn't parse my answer anyway. In the end I got there with first letter of 'ten' and what I suppose could be kinds of nails (or the acts of using types of nails). These "nails" are used to attach thin pieces of metal together.
Glad I'm not in Florida today. Have a good weekend!
Peter
Peter - I'm glad you're not in Florida today, too! And thanks for 19d.
DeleteYes, the word with an "O" was first to mind -- but quickly discarded when it would not parse.
DeleteFalcon - you'll need to fix 5d. The solution is 7 letters - yours has eight.
DeleteSE(D)ATED
SEATED (Sitting) containing (around) D (dee)
Henry
Hello Falcon and fellow puzzlers,
ReplyDeletePretty easy clues today with a couple of trickier ones thrown in for good measure. Last one in for me was 11a - the indefinite number had me stumped for awhile. Favourite clue was 14d.
Falcon, I would add that the second part of the solution to 19d could also be a noun (and not a verb as you indicated).
Thank you for posting.
Cheers to all,
MG
Yes, the second part of the solution could be a noun, but I could find no evidence that as a noun it is synonymous with nail -- which is why I used the rather obscure use as a verb.
