Introduction

We get a very enjoyable offering today from Ray T, with 23a without doubt being a signature clue. I did need to exercise the implements in my Tool Chest fairly early today. However, once I had found a couple of solutions with their help, I was then able to get several more unaided. I also found very few "Briticisms" in today's puzzle - or am I just getting so used to them that I fail to see them.
